Aero Institute (AI-HK) was founded in 2009 by passionate local Airline Pilots in Hong Kong. We observed the lack of aviation training from the private sector to cater for the demand in the quest for aviation knowledge in Hong Kong. AI-HK was formed on such basis, with the aim to spread aviation knowledge to the masses, and to cultivate future pilots and other aviation professionals among the local population.
We expanded to Macau in 2013. And in 2016, we stepped into Singapore and China.

It was an honour to be the first scholar of the AI-HK Scholarship and this is undoubtedly the biggest step I took in achieving my aspiration of becoming an airline pilot. I have certainly gained way more than I originally expected.
Besides the PPL+ course and the 10 Hours of Flying, what I valued most was the guidance that I get from all the Pilots in AI-HK.
I was offered great flexibility to redeem my scholarship in order to fit in with my 2 exchange programmes required in university. I was worried initially but together we worked out a solution like a team.
I got learn how to professional pilots solve difficult situations. In the end I flew 5 hours in the UK during my exchange and will fly another 5 hours in Australia next year. I can also re-attend the PPL+ course as many times as I wish.
To me, AI-HK Scholarship just came with unimaginable bonuses.
It was a memorable learning experience to fly in Australia. I did as much preparation as I could beforehand and completed my First Solo in a Tobago in 11 hours. Although it is only the first milestone as a pilot, the joy of manoeurving the plane all by myself and the sense of achievement is incredible and unforgettable.
During the whole process, I had to cope with different issues and that gave me a taste of the airline operations - how a pilot has to make the best outcome despite all the unfavourable factors.
What is unique about the AI-HK Scholarship is the learning BEYOND. Flying an aircraft requires Knowledge and Skills, You look at the instrument panel inside and through the windscreen outside. However, when you have the right Attitude, then you can SEE what is really happening to the flight, the industry and the world. You will be able to do things better and do better things.
For instance, flying some 300 passengers safely and efficiently. It takes Experience, and it makes up Experience.
All these qualities are what I am gaining from AI-HK.
Being awarded the Scholarship by Aero Institute motivated me to work harder to pursue my pilot dream. It is truly a big step forward as well as a huge encouragement.
It was an unforgettable experience to fly in Australia. With the aviation knowledge I gained from the PPL+ course plus my thorough preparation, I completed my First Solo in 2 weeks. I enjoyed every moment in the sky so much, and could never forget the joy of completing a flight all by myself.
My learning experience in Aero Institute surpassed my expectations. The instructors were helpful and encouraging. Being a Pilot is more than just being knowledgeable and skillful. Apart from the PPL knowledge I gained from AI-HK, the most valuable lesson I learnt was how an Airline Pilot thinks and operates. Their teachings gave me a much bigger and comprehensive picture that enables me to handle difficult situations in an efficient manner.
I hope I can become an aviator in the near future and this is the best way to express my gratitude toward Aero Institute.
Like everyone in this portal am also keen to learn flying. So every now and then I keep looking for that one window to get into flying. One fine day I saw an ad in Facebook about a Pilot seminar. Usually, when I hear something about flying I get very excited. This time I was super excited, because I was going to get a chance to meet real operational pilots and get a chance to hear their experiences and perspectives. The seminar was very interesting. I had minimal knowledge about flying, so there was lot to learn. I came to know about pilot cadet programme. The main aim of the seminar was not only to motivate or guide people to become a pilot but also to become a scholar pilot and create world class leaders in the field of aviation. Singapore is the ideal place to nurture such young talents who aspire to become a pilot.
I found the instructors were enthusiastic and full of life, extremely passionate about sharing their pilot knowledge. In our ground class we felt like flying. Every Saturday I felt like flying in NWC airways (Nigel, William, Chuck). Our classes started with a question-answer round. Everybody was free to ask any type of questions, our instructors answered our most stupid questions in a professional way and ensured that we learnt and understood. Chuck is calm and patient, he explains everything in a simple way by giving lots of examples but sometimes Nigel and William became the aircraft themselves, mimicking the aircraft movement and engine sound. HaHaHa!! Well those were all the fun part.
Our instructors were extremely hard working and professional. Despite their tight schedules, they still managed to make time to contribute and share their knowledge with us. Nigel is our power bank he could talk non-stop, without taking any break. Our instructors focus on how to become an insider, so they clear our concepts by asking questions, having group discussions, which required us to apply logic and critical thinking to a situation. We were also exposed to few video examples and ATC audio tapes. Andrew is our other instructor, who holds over 40 yrs of experience in ATC. He taught us about operation of ATC. All these helped us to become more confident.
I also made good friends. I feel happy that I made the right choice at the right time. Aero Institute made me confident towards my dream and also helped me to get through any kind of interview. Since there is not much opportunity to learn everything about flying from books and google, I would suggest people to act now. Join Aero Institute and become a scholar pilot because our instructors make things happen!!!

This course has introduced me to a lot of new concepts and what you should expect to know as a pilot. The instructors want you to really understand how things work. Instead of giving me answers blindly, they make you think from a logical point of view. Every lesson they will give you some extra information from an insider point of view and to me that is very valuable. I learn new knowledge every lesson. I have no regrets taking up this course and I am eagerly waiting for level 2!

This course is very interesting and enriching because it covers the basic fundamentals of aviation. In addition, there are existing pilots to share their knowledge and give relevant tips and information on the profession as a pilot. Instructors were very keen to teach and even value-add the course. In general, it is a good course to apply for to kick start the journey to being a pilot.

I am currently a undergraduate in Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Asia. I attended AI-HK Cadet Recruitment Workshop Singapore in 2016. The workshop have provided me with many useful insights and I gained relevant knowledge regarding the aviation industry. Not only the hard skills were taught in the time that I was here but also the soft skills which is equally important. I believe this knowledge and information I gained is useful for my degree studies and my passion to be a pilot one day. Thank you for organizing this course! Looking forward for the future with AI-HK!

The Cadet Recruitment Workshop has equipped me with a massive amount of aviation knowledge. Even though I studied Aerospace Engineering, the instructors, who are pilots as well, taught us stuffs that I never knew.
Not only they were eager to bombard us with questions and make us think from a pilot's point of view, they also relates lecture materials with their flying experiences. These are something that we can't get from anywhere else. We were also encouraged to ask all kinds of aviation questions to clear any doubts.
The instructors were exceptionally passionate about imparting their knowledge to us and they are always ready to go the extra mile to extend classes just to give us more information despite their busy schedule.
I highly recommend aspiring pilots to join Aero Institute as they teach us how to have a pilot mindset!
